Safe and Sound

The new Taylor swift video for The Hunger Games was released and I'm loving the song. It fits in with the solemn mood of the story. I'm so excited to see the movie in March! The cast looks really exciting, especially those who were cast as some of the supporting characters like Stanely Tucci, Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harelson, and Elizabeth Banks. What do you think of everyone they cast for the movie?

Tootles...It's Friday!

I'm so happy the weekend is here, in fact this morning I woke up thinking it was already Saturday and started pouting when my husband broke the news that it wasn't. In any case, I still love my Fridays!

This weekend I'm attending a baby shower that promises to be super cute if the invite is any indication and I'm hoping catch this movie... So far, it's getting good reviews, so I'm hoping this one will have me laughing and quoting lines afterwards. Yeah, I'm a movie quoter in case you didn't know...it can get a little annoying sometimes...especially if I'm hanging with a fellow movie quoter.
Have a fabulous weekend and see you on Monday!

Jungle Friday

Last weekend we weeded, trimmed, and raked our way to prepping the yard for some new Spring blooms. So this weekend Mango and I are going to trek through the local nursery in search of some flowers and mulch to spruce up our front yard, and perhaps sneak in a hedge plant or two between us and the neighbors. We figured we'd get a jump on it while the scorching heat hasn't fully kicked in yet...ah, Florida.

Once we're finished I'm thinking of catching a matinee of this movie. It looks so adorable and it's getting great reviews. In case you''re wondering, yes, Mango and I are that couple without kids sitting in the movie theater with our 3D glasses on waiting just as eagerly as the 5 year olds next to us for the show to start.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone! Until Monday!

Ledger's Imaginarium

I always wondered what happened to the movie that Heath Ledger was working on when he died. I assumed that they scrapped it, after all, how can a movie go on when one of it's main actors has passed away? However, I was so excited to read that the director, Terry Gilliam, decided to move ahead with the project and even enlisted some of Heath Ledger's pals to help. The movie is "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus", this sort of crazy and surreal story with other big names like Christopher Plummer. Apparently, Gilliam asked Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to step in for the role of "Tony", Heath Ledger's role. Since the story this is so surreal, they were able to pull off the change in actors once the character stepped into this other fantasy world.
I cannot wait to see how it turned out, the trailer alone looks amazing. One of the most heart warming aspects of this story for me is that all three actors donated their salary to Heath's daughter Matilda. Now I think that's pretty cool.

::Raspberry::

I can't wait to see this movie! My favorite part in the trailer is when a woman tells Meryl Streep that she has no talent for cooking, and Meryl replies with a raspberry. Don't you wish you could just do that to some people? Like when a clerk gives you attitude or someone finally picks up after putting you on hold for 45 minutes?

I just might try it someday.

Who's Bad?

Just taking a moment to pay homage to one of the greats, Michael Jackson. I couldn't believe it when I saw the headlines, such a sad moment.

I grew up glued to the TV as a kid watching his music videos, in fact one of my strongest memories is of my sister and I watching his Moonwalker movie over and over again. To this day I have all of the sequences memorized. As a kid, this was my favorite part, the kid version of the famous Bad video:

You gotta love the kid in the background with the 5:00 shadow.

Yup...it's the weekend!

Happy Friday!

I couldn't help myself when I saw this photo because it is exactly what I am hoping to be doing this weekend. It has been raining non-stop all this week, which has seriously impeded on my effort to bike ride everyday for some exercise. This weekend I'm hoping to get a little bit of riding done in the morning before those rainy Florida summer afternoons kick in. Over the holiday weekend my lovely mother-in-law gave me the gift of a bell for my bike! Stop laughing, I know it's funny that a 25 year old grown woman wants a bell on her bicycle, but in all due fairness, with the way I ride bike it's a good thing.

Also, this weekend the movie I've waiting for all year is coming out, UP! In case you haven't seen the adorable previews yet, click here. Mango and I are big fans of a good animated movie, especially in 3D. Yes, we are that couple in the movie theater with no kids sitting there in just as much anticipation as the 7 year olds next to us. Going to see the movie is on our list of things to do during those rainy afternoons.

Have a happy and safe weekend! See you on Monday!

Friday Wheels!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I'm so happy the weekend is here, it seems like this week completely flew by!

Last night Mango and I went to see Star Trek! It was fantastic, I highly recommend you go this weekend to see it, especially since this weekend you might get the opportunity to see some "Trekkies" in costume, how much fun is that? We didn't see any last night, I was a bit disappointed. I absolutely loved it, I'm a fan. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are in the lead roles.

On the agenda for this weekend, first off, my husband is going to by me my first brandy new bicycle in years. Yep, that's right, I do not have a bicycle. Now that the weather is so nice and warm we were talking about how nice it would be to go bike riding, but alas, I have no bike. So, Mango and I are going shopping for a new one. Ideally, I would love to get a pretty riding bike like Blair has here: Basket and all! What can I say? I'm not a mountain trail kinda girl, I just want something that I can ride along the beach on. I must admit, I'm pretty darn excited, you gotta love new toys. Other than that, Mango and I plan on taking it pretty easy. We might get together with some friends for some good old fashioned home cooking and laughs.

Have a happy and safe weekend! See you on Monday!

Sunny Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

I can't wait to start the weekend today. This week has been particularly slow and tiresome. I can't wait for a little R&R and some quality time with the hubs.

Okay, don't laugh, but believe it or not I really want to go see this movie...

What can I say? I'm a sap for those feel good movies.

*Special note to my sister:

This in no way tops you wanting to see the Miley Cyrus movie!

Have a great weekend! See you on Monday!

Dreaming about...

It's been extremely rainy these past few days, looks like the summer weather is starting to kick in down here in S. Florida. Truth be told, I sort of like it. The rain makes everything nice and quiet, the grass and the trees look greener, and the flowers are starting to bloom a little more each day. While some people don't like the temporary reprieve from the ever strengthening Summer sun, it reminds me that Spring is here, making me dream about pretty gardens and flowy dresses.

Today I'm dreaming of a pretty backyard garden...with ivy growing around the house and hidden little walkways...

a pretty dress that moves as you rock on an age old tree swing...
and bright white hydrangeas to keep me company... until then, I'm just going to curl up on this rainy day and get the same feeling with this movie...

Sneaker Weekend

A very happy Friday to you all!

This week has gone by pretty fast and the best part about it is that the weather has been amazing all week, I'm hoping it lasts for this reason: No humidity = great hair.

There are a lot of projects I'm hoping to tackle this weekend:

First up, a major painting project. Since Spring is here, I plan on tackling each room one by one for a major spring cleaning, and since all the furniture is going to be moved around anyway, I figured I might as well tackle the much needed task of painting all of the trim in the house. Yes, it is a rather tedious project, but it's way over due and the trim could use some sprucing up. This weekend I'm starting off with the family room. Currently, there's hardly any furniture in there since we're slowly getting rid of it before the new sectional arrives next week, so it should be fairly easy to get in those corners.

Next, I'm tackling the home office and getting it ready for when I'm in school mode. Next week is my last week, so I want to get it finished before school starts.

Last, gardening! It's also time for a Spring cleaning outside. Mango and I are going to start off with tackling the front yard. We got the thumbs up to pull out these two bushes (well actually, branch thingies with a few leaves on them) separating our town homes. So we'll be replacing those, I'm thinking of getting something that will flower and smell nice. Any suggestions?

Tonight is date night, and my hubby is taking me to see a movie that I've been waiting to see since they first announced it: That's right. Mangonett is totally stoked to sit there with her 3D glasses next to a bunch of kids and see Monsters vs. Aliens. Don't judge me...

Have a fantastic weekend! See you on Monday!

Valentino

On my list of must see movies this year is the documentary on the legendary designer, Valentino called Valentino: The Last Emperor. Unfortunately it's only going to be playing in very few cities, so I might have to wait for it to come out on DVD, but it looks like it's going to be so interesting. My favorite line so far, "I love beauty... I can't help it", I hear ya Valentino. Oh, and I would mind being one of his pugs either, they ride around on private jets and sleep at his feet while he's sketching those amazing gowns...doesn't sound half bad.

It's on the way!

I finally ordered my own copy of the Domino book! I'm so excited!
If you haven't gotten your copy yet, Domino Magazine is offering a 35% off discount through Barnes and Noble, and if your order is $25 or more, they throw in free shipping! Since I had just finished my current read, I decided to order a copy of Confessions of a Shopaholic, I can't wait for the movie! I love Isla Fisher, she's too funny, the scene in the previews when she cracks open the block of ice to get her credit card is priceless. Anyone else excited to go see the movie?

I have a date with Keanu

Happy Friday!

Tonight, I am planning on abducting my husband and father (my mom and sis are away for the weekend so I'm babysitting dad), and heading off to see the new movie, The Day the Earth Stood Still. I never got to see the original, however since it was on last night, we recorded it, maybe I'll watch it over the weekend to compare. Maybe Keanu will throw in an alien "Whoa" in this one?

No big plans for the weekend, sort of just want to stay at home since we're going to be traveling again when the holidays roll around. Have a happy and safe weekend everyone! See you on Monday!

Guess where I'll be tonight...

Tonight, I am off to see Bond...James Bond.
In case I haven't made this known yet, I'm a big James Bond fan, I think the accent has a lot to do with it.

Tap, tap.

Happy Friday everyone! Wishing you all a fun filled, evil witch free weekend (unless you've seen Wicked, then you know the truth)! I wish I could tap my heels together and be relaxing already. See you all on Monday!

The Weekend is here!

It's Friday! It's amazing how this day comes every week and I jump up and down with joy every Friday morning as if this was the first one ever. I'm really excited today because I'm heading out early from work and meeting my girls to see the new movie, "The Women". I saw the previews and thought it looked adorable, also the super star cast looks amazing! However, this morning Mr. Movie Phone didn't give it glowing reviews, but whatever, he's a dude that watched a chick flick, so I am going to take my chances anyway. I can't wait to see some of my favorite actresses all together in one movie, this is going to be cool, I'm rooting for Eva Mendez, she's one of my faves.
This weekend I desperately need to do some grocery shopping! Although the pantry is filled with canned food from the hurricane, the fridge is barren. However this is sort of a good thing as Mango and I have officially decided to start Weight Watchers! While married life has been wonderful these past 7 months, it has definitely taken a toll on our waist lines. Right now we are competing with how many items of clothing don't fit anymore! We have a couple of friends that have tried it and had excellent results. Their online option is probably going to be the best bet for us. It will allow us to track everything online and I can find some yummy recipes that we can cook at home. We're starting Monday, so this weekend will demand that we throw away my double stuff oreos and his Cherry Garcia and replace them with healthy foods. Wish us lots of happy diet dust!
Have a happy and safe weekend everyone! See you on Monday!

How do you say "Lost Pants" in Greek?

Last night my girls and I caught the early show of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, I loved it! Definitely a girly movie, which is why Mango was more than happy to send me off and watch this without him. I absolutely loved the story, this time around the girls are off to college and more grown up. I love how each girl is different and has her own goals, amazing ones at that, however they still manage to stay friends...tear. Of course the movie was not without the man candy! However my favorite appearances were those of one of my two favorite actresses:

Gwenyth's mommy, Blythe Danner

The always beautiful, Shohreh Aghdashloo

Along with the story, I was also in love with the girls' style this time around. All of them had the long flowy, wavy hair that takes me a lot of hairspray and the curling iron to achieve. Dresses were a constant during the movie, also flowy and comfortable, with the exception of Tibby, she always has her own great style going on! Of course, since the whole movie revolves around the jeans, I must mention that the jeans have metamorphisized and became sort of a scrapbook for the girls with fun patches and other little tid-bits marking special moments in their lives.

One Villain, Two Villain, Three Villain...

I'm so excited! According to the Queen of all Media, Perez Hilton, the next two villains for the Batman movies are about to be cast. Who can they be you ask?
Apparently the next Batman movie will feature "The Riddler" as the next villain and the role is being offered to none other than the genius Johnny Depp! I'm particularly excited about this because Depp has a way of twisting a role into his own. Jim Carey did a pretty good job as the last Riddler, so this should be fun.

Next up, is the fishy "Penguin", not one of my favorite characters, however interesting none the less. It's rumored that the role is being offered to Phillip Seymour Hoffman, the same actor that did a brilliant job in "Capote".
To read the article, click here.
* Latest in Batman Villain news:
There's a rumor that the new "Catwoman" could be the always fabulous Angelina Jolie! According to reports she was inquiring about the role. I think she would awesome, another quirky actor that I am sure will take the villain to a whole new level! To read the story click here.

Belated Batman Review

Yeah... it was awesome. If you haven't seen it yet, get your booty over there and get a ticket right now! Go on!

P.S
Heath Ledger made the best Joker ever!
