Tummy Troubles in Puppy Land

Yesterday I spent the day watching this little guy because he woke us up early in the morning sick.

I'll spare you the descriptive details, but it was enough for me to call the vet and head over there for the first appointment she had available. Turns out Jack is a dog with a sensitive stomach, which does not work with his constant need to scavenge goodies every where he goes. The vet prescribed him a special food for a month and a probiotic to help his tummy get back to normal. Then she gave me the strict warning to be very careful with what he eats in the future because his tummy is a "delicate" one.

So I came home from the vet feeling sad for my puppy and his tummy troubles, and even sadder that it was partly my fault since I didn't recognize that he is prone to issues to begin with. In a nutshell, I felt like a bad "dog mom". What in the world am I going to do when I have kids?
To help him feel better I gathered up all the toys that I had been putting away in the closet over the past couple of weeks that he had ripped holes in. I took them away to stop him from eating any of it and put them away in what my husband calls "Jack's Toy Hospital". I spent the afternoon stitching up every hole I could find while he eagerly watched me and jumped around the room in excitement.
Needless to say, he was very happy to have all his toys back. This was basically the way he slept the rest of the day, surrounded by all of his long lost toys.

So that was my day yesterday. I'm glad that we figured it out early on in his life, which means I'm basically going to be OCD about what he eats to prevent yesterday's bought of the squirts (sorry). Do any of you have pets with special tummy issues? What have you been doing to prevent them?

Life Lately

In case you're wondering why there hasn't been a lot of action on the blog lately, it's because this little guy has been taking up all of my attention with his new accessory...the cone of shame
He got fixed earlier this week and since then has been rocking this cone on his head whenever we can't keep an eye on him. He has to wear this for the next 10 (!) days until the stitches come out, poor little guy. It hasn't stopped him from picking things up and running with them though, just has to do it with a bit more style ;-)

This Weekend...

This weekend was non-stop and filled with special moments that I was so happy to be a part of. On Saturday we photographed this amazing couple on their wedding day...
We grew so fond of them over the past year that we were soooo happy to see them tie the knot. On Sunday my sister went to see our one month old baby cousin and snapped this photo of her cute little baby toes...
And each morning I wake up, give my husband a big kiss and spend the quiet moments before the day begins snuggling with this lovely little pup...
He's become quite accustomed to lounging on the bed...
that's ok though, waking up to that little nose makes my day.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend lovelies!

All things Jack

I realize that all of my posts this week have been about this adorable little guy, but it's because he has literally taken up every ounce of our attention since he arrived. 5 days in and he's already sleeping a little longer during the night which means that the potty training is working! Yesterday he met all the kids on the street and he had so much fun jumping all over them that he exhausted himself and slept for 2 hours straight. When we brought him home he was timid about every space we brought him to, now he's running all over the place. This morning I carried him to the corner to potty and I ended up running after him as he galloped all the way back home.

He's doing well and growing everyday. I'll be getting to my regular posting soon, but for now I'm going to let this week be all things Jack ;-)

Day 3

It's Day 3 in puppy land. Jack has taken over the sofa, discovered that he has a very handsome twin living in the mirror in our dining room, loves frozen baby carrots, and he is obsessed with chewing on my jute rug. Seriously, he pretends to chew on his toy while he's actually chewing a piece of jute he's wiggled out of the weave of the rug. It doesn't matter, he can take the whole thing has a chew toy and I will crawl around behind him putting my rug back together because I am head-over-heels in love with that little fur ball. Last night was tougher than the one before, crate training is no joke, and my under eye concealer is working overtime this week.

Jack has Arrived!

Say hello to the newest addition to our family, Jack!
Early Sunday afternoon we welcomed the arrival of this little bundle of cuteness, we are so excited and...sleepy. He kept us up all night last night and this morning all three of us finally fell asleep on the living room rug with blankets and pillows. Looks like we have some exciting times ahead!
