Alexa's Beauty How To

Lisa Eldridge posted this video tutorial of how to get Alexa Chung makeup, and to make it even better Alexa Chung was there to demonstrate how she does that awesome winged eyeliner.

She's been my inspiration for my go-to makeup routine this summer and I was so excited to be able to watch exactly how she does her makeup. Plus it was secretly great to hear her talk about the giant "spot" she gets on her chin every once and while...Amen! me too!

Here's a bit more of my favorite Alexa Chung beauty looks. Always so simple and pretty, perfect for a girl on the go...

2013 Wide Awake

Hello loves! Happy 2013!

It's hard to believe that we're already a week into the new year. We got back from vacation last weekend and I've spent this week getting back into the routine of things. 2013 goals are written down and ready to be tackled this year. Top of my list is getting my home office organized since it's currently in a state of delicate chaos.

I thought it would be appropriate to start off 2013 on Journeys of Mangonett with these beautiful short films that my sister sent me this morning from the video gallery, Wide Awake. Created by Tierney Gearon, the films feature "13 actresses whose performances defined the year in film". They are no more than 2 minutes long and each are like a dream. These are some of my favorites...

Settle Down

Happy Friday!

This weekend the hubs and I are off on a little getaway to one of our favorite hotels here in Florida, mainly because it has a lazy river where I can float on my tube with a bright tropical drink in one hand and my book in another. I'm easy to please, what can I say? You had me at "lazy river".

Yesterday this came on the radio while I was driving home...
No Doubt is back people! Whoop Whoop!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dancing Friday

Happy Friday!

Here's a little something I thought would put a smile on your face in time for the weekend. The Man Repeller, Hilary Rhoda, Rebecca Minkoff and her adorable baby dancing to "Call Me Maybe"...yes please!

Check out those Man Repeller dance moves, love her!

Have a great weekend!

This Weekend...

Good morning! I  hope you had a wonderful long weekend!

On Friday we drove down to Key West to elope with one of our awesome couples! They were originally planning to tie the knot in November, then a few weeks ago I received a phone call from the bride saying that they decided to elope to Key West with just their parents and siblings. Best part is, they asked us to go with them and photograph the whole thing! The weekend was a blast, especially seeing two people in love say "I Do!", I never tire of it. Here's a sneak peek video that we put together from the weekend...

We were home the next afternoon and spent the rest of the weekend lounging around the house and enjoying BBQ with the family. All-in-all it was a pretty awesome weekend!

Playing Today

I have this song on repeat today, perhaps because I'm a sucker for a good love song. It's the gorgeous Nikki Reed and her husband Paul McDonald, or as my sister said, "Aw! Rosalie married the guy from American Idol!".
Enjoy!

Safe and Sound

The new Taylor swift video for The Hunger Games was released and I'm loving the song. It fits in with the solemn mood of the story. I'm so excited to see the movie in March! The cast looks really exciting, especially those who were cast as some of the supporting characters like Stanely Tucci, Lenny Kravitz, Woody Harelson, and Elizabeth Banks. What do you think of everyone they cast for the movie?

"I Want to Walk on Your Wavelength"

Hello weekend!

Lots to do this weekend, and unfortunately most of it is work, but since it's work I like doing that's not so bad right? I made the macarons this past Wednesday! They've been awaiting me in the refrigerator since they have to sit for at least two days before they're ready, so they'll be a nice little treat to start off the weekend today. I can't wait to post some photos and show you guys how they turned out!

Lately one of my favorite songs on the radio is Katy Perry's "E.T.", I especially love the video. She's like this crazy looking alien princess with an awesome hair and makeup team...love it.
My sister showed me this awesome acoustic version of the song this week, I can't stop listening to it...
Enjoy!

Baby It's Cold Outside

My mom sent me this video today in honor of the chilly weather we've been having this week. It's one of my favorite winter songs, always puts a smile on my face ;-)

This weekend I'm looking forward to spending time at home cuddling on the sofa with the hubs and catching up on our DVR. After a week away, a little bit of home-time is just what the doctor ordered.

Have a wonderful weekend! Keep warm!

Grover

I grew up on Sesame Street.
Learned how to count thanks to The Count and developed an obsession for cookies thanks to Cookie Monster.
Now Grover is teaching us how to smell like a monster...still learning from these guys.

iPad + Velcro = Love

My husband would probably see this as another brilliant reason why he should get an iPad.

"The Tickets Are Now Diamonds!"

This commercial had me laughing so hard that my side hurt. I must admit...there's something about a guy on a horse.

Hey Jude

This year seemed to be no different from all the others when it came to airport delays and stories of people having to bunk up to wait for their flights. In this video John Wilson decided to host a little sing along of "Hey Jude" by The Beatles. At first, most people didn't know what to make of it, by the end they were all joining in to sing that intoxicating chorus...

Naaaaah Naaaah Naaah NaNaNaNaaaah, NaNaNaNaaaaaah Hey Jude!

Enjoy!

Marshmallow Temptation

I saw this video today and could not stop laughing at these kids faces. My favorite is the little boy in the grey t-shirt...oh the agony! According to an article in The New Yorker, this little experiment can give parents insight into their kid's psyche. I think when Mango and I have kids one day, I might try this little experiment on them...all in the interest of science of course ;-)

Single Lady Bathroom Painting

My sister has the ability to take something that would normally be "everyday" and turn it into something unique and fun. Here's a little video she made of one of her adventures. I picked the original color back in the day, I must admit...I like the new one better ;-)

It's Like They Read My Mind...

Like many of you out there, I love seeing footage of runway shows and devour ever magazine and blog showing images of the latest collections. However, some of the designers' shoe choices leave me scratching my head and feeling bad for those poor models that have to balance in them. It always left me wondering what would happen if some everyday ladies decided to strut their stuff down the sidewalk in one of these sky high puppies.

Well, it's like they heard my pleas of wonder because these ladies decided to test out all of those crazy heels on a the streets of New York. As I would have imagined, some were not at all easy to walk in, however...

I will take those Manolo Blahniks and Rodarte boots please!

I'm serious, hand them over.

Chanel Film

This is why I am completely enamoured with all things Chanel and Audrey Tautou.

Such a beautiful film.

Update: I finally found a version of it that fits in the screen. Thanks Vimeo!
