Metallic Fall

I fell in love with these two images this morning...

Metallic skirts for fall...yes please. I love that they paired them with casual tops like a crisp white shirt or a soft blue blazer. JCrew has some cool patterned metallic skirts for fall, I love the blue and gold fluted skirt. For a not-so-basic-basic, my vote goes for that perfect gold skirt from Zara...

I'd pair it with a casual, dark wash chambray top and oxblood touches here and there. LOVE.

Red Stems

Instead of going straight home after work yesterday I decided to pop by the mall for some window shopping. For the past couple of months I've been avoiding the mall like a plague in an attempt to prevent any unnecessary spending until we bought the house. Now that we're in the house and settled I thought it would be OK to venture back to the mother-land. I have to say...it felt good.

I popped into The Limited to check out their summer sale (40% off your entire purchase!) and hanging there calling my name were these amazing red jeans! I have been looking for the perfect pair for quite a while, but could never find a pair that fit quite right. I decided to give them a whirl, took them into the fitting room and was so happy with how they fit! They're the perfect amount of stretchy to hug you in all the right places and the skinny fit makes them look nice and tailored...

They are sold out online, but in stores they are on sale for $26.99 plus an additional 40% off. So I got these babies for under $20.00, score!

I can't wait to wear them this summer, they'll be perfect for that kick of color I love wearing during the summer months. During the day I can't wait to pair them with a basic T or my favorite chambray shirt...

And at night dress them up with a pair of heels and a fun patterned top...
What item are you looking forward to wearing this summer?

Lady Bearman

The Coveteur published their article on Erika Bearman today (a.k.a @oscarprgirl) and I've already read through it three times just reveling in all of the gorgeous racks Oscar De La Renta gowns and her amazing collection of shoes.
I even pinned her mirrored medicine cabinet to show my husband what I mean when I say "I need a bigger medicine cabinet"...
Awesome isn't it? Head on over here to read the article.

Style Obsession: Flared Velvet

1,2
This season I'm taking a little reprieve from my skinnies and instead reaching for my flared denim and trousers. With a bit of extra length and a pair of killer heels, this look makes you appear longer and leaner, which always gets two thumbs up from me. I saw these images and went gaga over the style in velvet! So gorgeous for fall and perfect for keeping warm...

military oxblood

These Tory Burch velvet oxblood flares are so gorgeous! (They only have one size left, so if you're a 2, these beauties are currently on sale for $123!) Paired with a light henley, you're favorite coat, and a few statement accessories, I'm in love. Velvet flares are definitely going to be on my shopping list!

Hair Sparkle

I really loved the hair accessories on the runways for Fall 2012. Headbands of course made an appearance, but what really caught my eye were the sparkly and at times over sized hair clips that accessorized simple up-dos like chignons and twists. Sometimes designers used clusters of hair pins...

During the week my go-to hairstyle is usually a bun or some version of it. Adding little hair clips seems like a fun way to make your every-day look that much more special. At night, a big show stopper would look so pretty! The great thing is that you can find hair pins, clips, and bands everywhere in all price ranges...

Outfit Love: Navy and Camel

Image from Miette
It's September, which to me means the arrival of Fall even though it is in the high 80s outside and my shorts are in high rotation. Still, I'm already starting to rearrange my closet, bringing my favorite Fall items to the front and pulling images for inspiration like this lovely navy polka dot and dark camel cord combo. It's perfect for work and even on the weekends while strolling around town with the hubs.

Oh Nina...

I just found out that Nina Garcia has a Pinterest and it's filled with so many images that make me want to run home and play in my closet. Oh Nina, that's why you're my favorite...don't tell Heidi and Michael.

Lady-Like Spring

This Spring I'm going to try to wear more dresses, there's just too many pretty ones out there to be ignored. Nice flowy, lady-like dress with fun patterns and color sound like they'll do the trick this season, especially when paired with some equally pretty wedges.

Shorts and Sandals

Living in Florida, shorts and sandals have pretty much become my uniform year round, but mostly in the hot summer months when wearing a pair of jeans or anything that covers more of you than necessary seems loony. Needless to say, shorts and sandals are always at the top of my shopping list when spring rolls around. My favorites this season are the rainbow of colors at JCrew, they are not playing around and I LOVE them. shorts and sandals
My go to shorts at JCrew are their 3" chino shorts. They are awesome and comfy, and only seem to get better with age. I'm crushing on the green, yellow, and purple this season big time. How awesome are those scalloped shorts and the light blue denim ones? If you're looking for a fancier short, I love their twill shorts. They have a bit of a cleaner line than the chinos. For sandals, those orange Maltas and the gold Tovas are my faves.

What's at the top of your shopping list this spring?

Bow Belts

I saw these bow belts on Pinterest today, they're by Burberry Prorsum, aren't they adorable? My belt collection is basically composed of 3 belts: 1 belt for my hips (pants), 1 for my waist (dresses), and 1 skinny one that I have every intention of wearing but never do. When I saw these pretty bow belts it sent me on the hunt for some bow belts of my own to make my belt collection a little less depressing:Bow Belts

The Lanvin belt in the bottom left corner makes me gaga over it's satiny gorgeousness. Can you tell I'm looking forward to Spring and all the colors that comes with it?

Frida in the 40s

This 40s inspired editorial in the November issue of Elle Sweden is so beautiful. I love the styling, everything is modern while still capturing the gorgeousness that was the 40s. The hair and makeup is so pretty, it reminds me of my grandma who one day taught me how to do this hairstyle. She said it was her favorite way to do her hair when she was young. Judging by her photos, she rocked it just as pretty as the lovely Frida.

Pretty in a Top Knot

There's something about pretty, easy-going hair that just gets me every time. I love this top-bun hair style that was used for the MiH Jeans Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook. Instead of a tight top knot, they chose a pretty relaxed bun and simply parted her bangs down the middle, which is a great option for someone like me who has their bangs currently in that stage where they are too short to stay up, but need to be styled. The clothes are pretty darn adorable too. I need that blue top and while blazer!

Dsquared2 x Length = Fabulous

These images from the Dsquared2 2012 resort collection have me reaching towards greater lengths lately when it comes to my jeans and pants. This Fall I'm definitely going to be looking for styles that are beautifully fitted, slightly flared, and longer in length than I normally where. How great are the colors too? I especially love the chambray and pink combo.

Graduation Times 3

It turns out this summer is going to be full of family graduations!

This May both my sister and brother-in-law are graduating college, she finished her undergraduate and he finished Emory Law, and even my ancient self is participating in the graduation celebrations, I'm walking for my masters degree in June!

It's going to be fun wearing all of that regalia again, especially that cardboard hat with the tassel. For some reason that thing never sits right on my head. So naturally with all the festivities coming up the first thing on my mind is, what on Earth am I going to wear? I have three ideas in my mind right now that are each totally different...
Florals

Perhaps something girly and floral? I love the print of this dress and how easy going it is. Paired with simple jewelry and a pretty side-bun like Jessica Alba is wearing.
Tangerine

Or a cheery bright coral for the early morning celebrations? I love the way it looks paired with some sassy leopard pumps...
Audry
You can never go wrong channeling the always classic Audry Hepburn in a pretty black dress. I love how this one is made of linen, so it will be nice and light, accessorized with simple pearls over sized shades.
Which one's your favorite?
*All three dresses are from Top Shop*

About Knee High

Anyone else noticing this fun little detail popping up here and there for Fall? Yep, knee and thigh high socks look like they're going to be a staple of the Fall wardrobe this year. Usually when socks this high come to memory I think of this from back in the day. However, today the look is more grown up and goes perfectly with Fall ensembles... One tip I've picked will researching this trend is to make sure you choose a length that will flatter your body. So if the last thing you want to emphasize is your thighs, then don't go for socks that hit at your thigh. Happy shopping!
