It's all about the dress...

Isn't this a beautiful painting? While reading Lime in the Coconut, I found out about a fabulous giveaway by Diane at Inspiration by Design. She's giving away this beautiful work of art! Best part, it was created by her. I had never read her blog before and was blown away by her beautiful paintings. So you can best believe I am throwing my hat into the ring for a chance to win this piece of art for our home. For contest rules on how you can enter click here, like Linda said, "Don't walk, run!"

Here it is, my favorite dress in the whole wide world:My wedding gown...
When I read the contest rules, the first dress that popped into my head was my wedding dress. I remember the day I found it. I walked into this quaint little bridal boutique on Las Olas, simply happy to start trying on wedding gowns. It was my first bridal shop visit (after spending a day at David's Bridal figuring out what styles I liked and didn't like). Since it was just my mom and I in the store, we had all of the shop ladies playing dress up with me. 15 dresses later, I still hadn't found the one, then, just as I was about to give up, one of the ladies brought in my gown, and said, "Let's just try this one on for fun". From the moment I saw it, I was in love. It had everything I was looking for, mermaid silhouette, simple, no beading or lace, strapless, sweet-heart neckline and a beautiful, dramatic train. I walked out of the dressing room and told my mom that this was the one. After several tears and a good solid hour of prancing around the store in the gown, I bought her, this was the dress I was going to marry my husband in...
It's a little sappy, I know, but it's your wedding gown, it's bound to be a teary moment.

Thank you so much! I'll send a pic right away!

The picture in my title was taken by my sister. She just took up photography and this was one of her experiments. Here's the link to her blog:

Tammy here... the photo-taker (little sister... Hi Diane! Thank you for your great compliment! My mother was attempting to sell her miniature collection and that was one of the pieces. There are more photo's on my blog and Flickr account which are linked on my StillLife blog. Feel free to take a peek :)
The camera is a gorgeous Nikon D40x. I built a small light box for the miniatures. The lens was the standard 18-55mm lens that comes with the camera. I just recently purchased a wonderful 70-300mm lens that I am dying to use at it's full potential!
