Saturday Shopping

What you are looking at right here is absolute glee. The closest West Elm to me is a 45 minute to an hour drive (mainly because of traffic) into the heart of Miami. Needless to say, I do not go there often, in fact I had never been there before and instead ordered my West Elm items online. After receiving the dining room rug, West Elm sent me a $11 merchandise credit, why they did this I have no idea...but I do not question a good thing. So, on Saturday Mango and I jumped in the car with my sister and headed down to West Elm for a little shopping day trip.

Can I just say, I love this store. While we were there, we set a budget and decided to get some things for the house, and we had to follow 2 rules: (1) Know where it's going to go and (2) Stay within budget. First off, we needed a new floor lamp to the replace the one that was currently in the family room, mainly because every time we flipped the switch it was a 50/50 chance that it would turn on...time for a new lamp. After much staring at the lighting displays and my sister's thumbs up, we went home with this baby:
We thought it was so cool! Plus, it takes the room up a whole other notch, I can't wait to see how it looks with the new sofa. Next up, we needed a new rug for the foyer to spruce it up a bit. Something that could handle wear and tear and still look nice. Right away I fell in love with this little striped ditty and that went home with us too:
The rug came in an iron or red strip, we picked the red stripe in the hopes to add a pop of color to the otherwise bland foyer. While the lamp and the rug were "our" choices, we each ended up picking one thing that we really liked individually. Mango is a fan of art, and loved the art prints at the store. Bonus...they are 50% off! He picked this letters print that was full of fun colors, I still need to get a frame for it, but it's going to look really cool on our art wall:
My personal pick, I fell in love with this little white elephant. It was my little "purchase to me" with my $11 credit: Arthur is currently gracing the family room side table...so cute.

So there it is, our West Elm shopping trip. I promise, this does not happen often, afterwards we both looked at each other with stern eyebrows and vowed to not spend any more money and keep saving for a long while. We're cheapos at heart. Until the next time West Elm!

Thanks for the comment! To answer your question, I am using a book that my "brother" (we adopted each other since we are only children) used "The Princeton Review Cracking the GRE 2008 edition" ISBN#978-0-375-76616-9
